Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and LiPurposeFe LLC, a New York limited liability company (“LiPurposeFe,” “we,” “us”), about your use of Aliis: the app, this website, and the credentialing service (together, “Aliis”). By using Aliis you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Aliis.
1. What Aliis is
Aliis lets people keep a record of what they do for others (“contributions”) and have others confirm them. There are three ways a contribution can be confirmed:
- Somebody saw this: anyone can confirm a contribution from a link or QR code without an account. We don’t know who they are.
- Credentialed: a credentialer with a paid plan confirms it with their permanent credentialer ID.
- Verified: a credentialer whose identity we have confirmed confirms it, shown with a verification check.
Each confirmation is digitally signed, and a fingerprint of it is recorded in a public, tamper-evident ledger. Aliis is not a currency. Nothing in Aliis can be bought, sold, traded or exchanged for money.
2. Who can use Aliis
- You must be at least 13 years old. Aliis is not for children under 13.
- If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian knows you use Aliis and agrees to these terms.
- Credentialer accounts must be opened by an adult (18 or over) who has authority to act for the credentialer they name (for example, their organization, program or family).
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in details and devices secure. Signing keys are created on your device; if you lose a device, tell us so we can revoke its key. You’re responsible for what is done with your account and keys.
4. Honest records
Aliis only works if records are honest. You agree not to:
- record or confirm something you know didn’t happen;
- confirm or credential your own contributions, or use a second account or device to do so;
- pretend to be a person or organization you are not, or choose a name meant to be confused with another credentialer;
- pay or be paid to confirm or credential contributions;
- use Aliis to contact, track or pressure young people, or to collect information about them;
- post plans for young people that are really paid work, fundraising quotas, sales or staffing gaps;
- try to break, overload, copy or get around the security of Aliis.
We may remove content, revoke keys, withdraw verification or close accounts that break these rules. Signatures already in the public ledger stay there, but we may mark them as withdrawn.
5. Credentialers and paid plans
- Plans. Credentialer ($5 a month or $50 a year; up to 100 credentials a month) and Verified credentialer ($10 a month or $100 a year; unlimited, with identity verification). Prices may change with at least 30 days’ notice; changes apply from your next billing period.
- Payment. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns for payments. Paddle’s buyer terms apply to your purchase.
- Renewal and cancellation. Plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime; your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. See our Refund Policy.
- After a plan ends. You can’t sign new credentials, but everything you already signed stays valid and checkable.
- Verification. Verified status means we checked that the credentialer is who they say they are, using the methods described when you apply. It does not mean we checked any individual contribution.
- Pilot. During our pilot, plans may be offered free. We’ll tell you before any charge begins.
6. Young people never pay
Keeping a log, getting contributions confirmed, sharing a log and checking a credential are free for young people.
7. Your content
You own what you write in Aliis. You give us permission to store, process and display it as needed to run Aliis, including to the people you choose to share it with. Fingerprints of signed records go into the public ledger and can’t be removed from it; a fingerprint reveals nothing about what was written. You can delete your contributions at any time.
8. What confirmations mean
A confirmation shows who signed and when. It is the signer’s statement, not ours. We don’t promise that any contribution happened, or that a credential will be accepted by any school, employer or program. Readers decide what a credential means to them.
9. Disclaimers
Aliis is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise Aliis will always be available or error-free.
10. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, LiPurposeFe will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim about Aliis is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50.
11. Ending
You can stop using Aliis and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts others at risk.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in Aliis or by email before it takes effect. Using Aliis after that means you accept the updated terms.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New York, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
